Video: Day in the Life of a Moalboal Fisherman / by Melissa Forsyth

More than 1.3 million small-scale fishers, the poorest of the poor in the Philippines, depend on the ocean for their livelihood and to stave off hunger. But Philippine waters and the people that need them are in trouble. More than 75 percent of fishing grounds are overexploited, once lush coral reefs are degraded, and whale sharks are accidentally killed. I traveled to the Philippines for Oceana to meet these people who depend on the ocean. Shot and edited by me.
